General

1. What is Moeyo?

Moeyo is a platform for recording your encounters with nature. Upload photos and AI automatically identifies species and organizes everything in your personal Lifebook.

2. What happens to data uploaded during beta?

Data uploaded during beta will be retained after the official service launch. Unless you request deletion, your valuable records will not disappear.

Your records from the beta period will carry over to the official service, so feel free to start building your Lifebook now.

3. How is it different from existing citizen science platforms?

Moeyo focuses on personal record management:

The two services complement rather than compete. We recommend organizing easily on Moeyo and sharing important observations on citizen science platforms too.

4. Is there a mobile app?

Currently, we only provide a web service. We're developing iOS/Android mobile apps targeting release in the first half of 2026.

Apple ID login will be added along with the mobile app launch.

Upload

5. How many photos can I upload at once?

You can upload up to 100 images at once.

6. What file formats are supported?

Images: JPG, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, HEIF, WebP
Max size: 50MB per file

HEIC files are automatically converted before storage.

7. Are original photos stored as-is?

No, originals are not stored. Uploaded photos are resized to HD resolution (max 1280px width/height) and saved as WebP files. This is for storage efficiency and faster loading.

8. What if photos don't have location data?

If EXIF has no GPS data, location is stored empty. You can manually add it later, or import location from other photos taken at the same time (coming soon).

Mobile upload tip: When selecting photos through gallery apps, some apps strip location data before sending. If you want to include location data, we recommend uploading through the Files app.

Auto-Identification

9. How many species can be recognized?

Currently recognizes approximately 50,000 species. Includes major species from Korea, Japan, North America, and Europe.

We plan to expand to 100,000 species over time.

10. How accurate is automatic classification?

It varies by situation:

Clear photos with visible features: High accuracy
Groups with many similar species: Accurate only to Genus level
Low quality or partial photos: Lower accuracy

Use auto-classification results as reference, and we recommend expert verification for important identifications.

11. What if it's identified incorrectly?

You can correct it during upload. Moeyo follows these steps: Photo upload → Auto-identification → User review/edit → Final upload. You can review and modify results anytime before pressing the 'Final Upload' button.

Already saved records can also be edited in Lifebook.

12. What if I leave incorrect identifications as-is?

That's okay. Identifications are periodically re-run when the classification engine is updated. Over time, they may automatically update to more accurate results.

13. Which is more accurate: plants, insects, or birds?

Generally, birds are most accurate, while insects and plants often have genus-level identifications due to many similar species. Fungi still have limited training data.

Lifebook

14. What is Lifebook?

A personal journal of all organism records you've collected. Organized by date and species for easy searching of your observations.

15. Can others see my Lifebook?

Lifebook itself is private. To share with others, publish albums to your profile. Only published albums appear on public profiles.

Albums

16. What are albums?

Challenge collections of organisms grouped by theme. For example:

"Woodpeckers of Korea"
"Butterflies of Seoul"
"Coastal Birds of Jeju"

17. How do I use albums?

Bookmark albums you're interested in. When you upload photos, species in those albums automatically reflect in your progress.

To show bookmarked albums to others, you can publish them. Published albums appear on your public profile.

Data & Privacy

18. Where are my photos stored?

Stored in Cloudflare's global storage (R2).

19. How are my photos and data used?

However, per our Terms of Service, your photos and identification data may be used for AI training to improve Moeyo. Your records make AI smarter, and the benefits return to you.

Know about visibility:

Photos marked 'Assumed' or 'Cannot Identify': May be shown to other users for identification help
Published content: Albums and profile photos may be visible to non-members via search engines
Image links: All uploaded images are accessible via direct links

Therefore, please avoid uploading photos that should never be public.

Operators or management AI may review uploaded content for service management. Content not fitting the service purpose may be deleted without notice. This includes:

Photos unrelated to organism observation
Violent or disturbing content
Pornographic or sexual content
Other content deemed inappropriate by operators

20. Can I integrate with other platforms?

Currently in preparation. We're considering integration with citizen science platforms like iNaturalist. For example:

Importing existing observation data from iNaturalist
Uploading selected Moeyo photos as iNaturalist observations

However, such integrations require permission and cooperation from those platforms, so specific timelines are undetermined.

Safety Warning

21. Can I use Moeyo to determine edibility?

Absolutely not.

Do not use Moeyo's auto-identification or other users' identifications to determine edibility. Both automatic and human identifications can be wrong, and especially with fungi, deadly poisonous and edible species often look very similar.

Edibility must be determined by consulting an expert in person, under your own responsibility. Moeyo does not guarantee identification accuracy and takes no responsibility for edibility decisions based on identifications.

Troubleshooting

22. Upload stopped midway

Check your network connection. For uploading many files at once, we recommend a stable Wi-Fi connection.

23. Identification results aren't appearing

This can temporarily happen during high server load. Please try again shortly.

24. Photos aren't displaying

Clear your browser cache and try again. If the problem persists, contact support@moeyo.ai.
